Russell Blumer ‘92: I believe in the good that AXP can do

Russell Blumer ‘92 says that his time in Alpha Chi Rho impacted his life far beyond graduation. “The leadership skills that I learned at the fraternity during college likely contributed to my professional success as a radiology department head for 11 years.”

He says that he gives back to the chapter because, “I want the fraternity to still be there 100 years from now.” In fact, if more alumni gave back, he says that it will ensure that “the house will stay in good shape and be appealing to potential members on campus.”

His own AXP journey started because he had a hockey teammate who was a brother in the chapter. He remembers as being “an ideal location on campus, diverse membership. We were, perhaps a group of misfits, in some ways, which was a good fit for me.”

“Fraternities periodically face challenges to their very existence, and this is one of those periods. I really believe in their importance and in the good they can do,” he adds.

Without Alpha Chi Rho, I wouldn’t regard my college years as the most fun of my life, and I wouldn’t have my closest friends.
