Alumni Donations Help Transform Fraternity Experience

By Jordan Gushurst

As our capital campaign continues, we have worked to complete a variety of projects to improve both the infrastructure of the Chapter House and the quality of life for the undergraduates.

The most notable improvement is the replacement of the main house circuit breaker, as the prior panel was approximately 50 years old and it was very expensive to replace breakers.

The second major improvement was upgrading the internet service. For years, we were unable to get fast or reliable service from the private telecom companies due to the House’s location. But as a result of a year-long negotiation with the University led by undergraduate Vice President Michael Ramdatt, we now have a dedicated fiber connection and AirPennNet internet service, which provides speeds exceeding 200 Mb/s. There was a large one-time fee to run the fiber connection and install hardware, but the monthly charges are very reasonable. In the past, one of the bigger reasons cited to not live in the House was poor internet service, so we are thrilled to finally resolve this issue.

Other improvements include:

    • Adding beautiful new light fixtures in the living room, along with a pair of ceiling fans
    • Purchasing a new stackable Maytag washer and dryer and replacing the older coin-operated machines so residents can do better laundry for free
    • Installing a new vanity in the 3rd floor bathroom, along with other important refreshing.

We have a variety of additional projects in the works, and we look forward to providing more updates on larger projects as we make progress. Please come visit and see the improvements for yourself!

Thank you to all our donors who have helped transform the experience of living in the house. If you haven't given to the campaign yet, GIVE TODAY.
