We recently caught up with our very own Joe Havlick ’83 and had the chance to ask him about his Phi Phi Club experience, and where life since Penn has taken him. Here's what he had to say:

Where has life taken you since you graduated? Give us a brief recap up to this point including career and family highlights.

Lots of jobs and relationships. My Penn engineering degree helped garner and inform a bridge and environmental design career. The Wharton MBA powered a career in the direct marketing profession. An M.Ed. from West Chester University contributed to my stint as a High School Counselor and my ongoing private practice working with students. The Ph.D. from Temple in Sport Psychology qualifies me to work with athletes around their mental health and enhancement of their performance. All of these degrees and careers inform everything I do, every day, professionally and personally. My latest ventures extend into land development. I am always learning and changing. I've been married twice and had various relationships, and am now deeply in love and devoted to a successful MD/MBA. We courted (get it?) while playing basketball together. We both bring kids, who get along and are of similar ages. It works.

What are the most important lessons you learned because of Alpha Chi Rho?

Getting along with others. What is true leadership? The value of friendship. The power of words. The power of action.

When you look back on your time in Alpha Chi Rho, what moments do you tend to remember most?

Intramurals. Hanging, listening to music, imbibing, laughing, and insulting one another. Being together day-to-day.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I am great friends with my AXP fraternity brothers, we've been in touch since graduation and will continue to be forever.
